Dennis Wood

Dennis R. Wood, 67, of Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held Sunday, June 14th, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date. Dennis was born December 5, 1947, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, IA, to Ralph and Doris (Kadel) Wood. He married Joan Batey, who survives. He graduated from St. Ambrose in Davenport, and from Iowa State University in Ames, IA, in 1976, with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. From 1983 until 2015, he owned and operated a small animal clinic, Highland Veterinary Hospital. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, boating, and parties on the river. He fought a courageous fight for a year and a half, battling Leukemia with a stem cell transplant on October 8, 2014, which gave him a new “birthday” for life. Survivors include his wife, Joan; a daughter, Jennifer A. Wood of Coralville, IA; a son, Kelly J. Wood of Moline; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
