Delbert T. Murphy, age 80, of Moline, IL. died on Monday, December 18, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Delbert T. Murphy was born on June 7, 1926, to Joseph and Mildred (Thompson) Murphy in Moline, IL. He married Ruth Ann Schilling on September 1, 1950, in Moline, IL. She preceded him in death June of 2005. Del served in the Army during WWII. He was employed as a supervisor in the Experimental Department at John Deere Harvester Company in East Moline, IL. He was also the owner and operator of Uptown Tax in Moline, IL. As a member of First Congregational Church in Moline, Del was a longtime member of the church choir. He was a founding member of the Quad City Music Guild, treasurer of Uptown Merchants Association, and past president of the Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Tax Practitioners. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2006, at First Congregational Church in Moline. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20th from 4 to 7 PM at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church of Moline, or to the American Diabetes Association. Survivors include - 2 Daughters: Ann Black of Moline, IL. and Kathleen Murphy of Moline, IL.; 1 Son: Timothy (Julie) Murphy of Machesney Park, IL.; 1 Brother: Jack Murphy of Coal Valley, IL.; 4 Grandchildren: Joe Black of Minneapolis, MN, Kyle, Kory, and Katie Murphy of Machesney Park, IL; and 1 Great Granddaughter: Kayley Murphy of Machesney Park, IL. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Richard Murphy.
