Dean R. Atwell, 57, of Colona, IL, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at UnityPoint Health, Rock Island, IL.
Family and friends are invited to Dean's Celebration of Life to be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Racer's Edge, 936 15th Avenue, East Moline, IL, starting at 2:00 pm.
Dean was born on January 18, 1965, in Moline, IL, the son of Gary Atwell and Sandra (Kipp) Melody. He graduated from UTHS and worked at John Deere Harvester Works. Dean was a man of all trades, skills, and talents, which included mechanics, construction, computers, and drawing. He loved to race and drive around in his '79 Chevy Malibu. His other enjoyments included riding trails in his RZR side by side, drag racing, working on cars, RC cars, playing drums and listening to rock music, video games, fishing, camping, the Green Bay Packers, and watching movies. But, most of all, he loved his girls (LeeAnn and Nikki), his grandkids (Boogie & Bubbie), and his pug, Frank. Spending time with his family and his dog was pure joy and most important to him.
His favorite quote was, "What goes around comes around."
Dean is survived by his daughters, LeeAnn Marie (Steve Waldron Sr.), Silvis, IL, and Nicole Atwell (Bret Harris), Milan, IL; grandchildren, Ashlyn (Boogie) Waldron and Steven (Bubbie) Waldron Jr.; parents, Sandra Melody, Moline, IL and Gary Atwell, Coal Valley, IL; sister, Dedra (Mike) Crampton, Moline, IL; brother, Donald (Glenda) Atwell, Fort Worth, TX; his closest and life-long friend, Bill Reynolds of East Moline, IL and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews along with his beloved Pug, Frank.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Margaret Kipp, Herbert and Avis Atwell, and a cousin, Charlie Brown.
