David William Evans

David W. Evans, 60, of Coal Valley, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at UnityPoint Trinity West Medical Center in Rock Island, IL. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 20th, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Monday, November 21st, at 11:00 a.m., at First Congregational Church, 2201 – 7th Avenue, Moline. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America. David William Evans was born in Moline on May 16, 1956, to David R. and Margaret (Fry) Evans. On November 12, 1983, in Moline, he married Paula Jean Beardsley, who survives. He was a graduate of Moline High School, and Augustana College in Rock Island. He was a long-time member of First Congregational Church where he served on the church council and sang in the choir. He was a Past-President of Moline Rotary (and a Paul Harris Fellow), and Past-President of Moline Jaycees. As an Eagle Scout, he was awarded the Order of the Silver Beaver and the Order of the Arrow. David was the current President of George Evans Corporation in Moline, the sixth Evans in four generations to hold that position. In addition to his wife, Paula, survivors include his mother, Margaret; his daughter, Katherine Evans of Coal Valley; his son, David J. Evans of Champaign, IL; and two brothers, Michael (Laura) Evans of DeKalb, IL, and Scott (Ching) Evans of San Ramone, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, David, and grandparents, Reid & Catherine Evans, and William and Allene Fry.
