David Grant Brasmer, 94, of Rock Island, IL, was called home to the Lord on Friday, April 21, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Nursing & Rehab in Rock Island. The family will be greeting relatives and friends at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL, on Friday, April 28th, from 5pm, with a memorial service at 6pm. David was born April 23, 1922, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Hobart L. and Edith P. (Miner) Babbitt. Hobart Babbitt was killed in a railroad yard accident that same year. They celebrated 61 years together before her death in 2007. David was a Quality Inspector for John Deere Harvester Works, retiring after 41 years in 1983. He loved serving the Lord in many ways as a longtime member of the Moline Gospel Temple, and more recently, the Westside Assembly of God in Davenport, and Bible Holiness Church in East Moline. David enjoyed playing golf, and was a well-known Moline High School athlete in his youth. He also enjoyed the Cubs, fishing, traveling, puzzles, and riding his Goldwing Trike. Left to morn his loss is his son, John D. (Connie) Brasmer; granddaughters, Johnna Kay (Alan) Gustafson, Diana (Jim) Polton, and Bobby Jo Brasmer; his grandson, Shane Brasmer; four great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Kay Churchill and her daughter, Abby Tracy. Memorials may be made to the Bible Holiness Church in East Moline.
