A proud lifelong resident of the Quad Cities, Dave Micklewright, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dave, the youngest of five children, was born to Duane and Betty Micklewright in Davenport, IA, on March 26, 1965. He grew up on the family farm in northwest Davenport, where he loved being outdoors and working with his father.
Dave graduated from Davenport West High School in 1983 and immediately started his over 40-year career in the food and beverage industry. He operated many local businesses and held the titles of Food and Beverage Director at The President Riverboat in Davenport, Executive Chef at W.L. Velie’s in Moline, and Event Director & Executive Chef at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport. He also owned and operated Micklewright’s Catering Service of the Quad Cities for 15 years.
Dave did not know a stranger, and he enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and friends who had become family. He was a die-hard Cubs and Hawkeyes fan and loved nothing more than going to Wrigley Field with his favorite person in the world, his daughter Shannon.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Shannon, whom he cherished like no other; sister, Deb (Kevin) Coonts of Davenport; brother, Dean (Denise) Micklewright of Davenport; brother, Dale Micklewright of Davenport; numerous nieces and nephews and a list of friends that could go on forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Betty, of Davenport, and his brother, Darrell Micklewright, of Kalispell, Montana.
Dave’s immediate family will greet friends and family at a visitation from 3:00-6:00 pm at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline on Friday, November 1, followed by a short service at 6:15 pm. Everyone is then welcome to gather at The Main Event in Bettendorf to celebrate the love and laughter that Dave brought to many lives.
