Daniel R. Daczyk passed away on October 26, 2022, after a brief illness.
He was born December 31, 1944, to Stanley and Dagny Daczyk in Kingman, Arizona. Daniel married Lynn Budsberg in 1965. They had one son, Zachary Daczyk in 1979. They divorced.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Diane (Len) Janke and Dawn (Jeffrey) Lubecke.
He is survived by his loving son, Zachary (Tricia, significant other) Daczyk; sisters, Deborah (Richard) Wanta and Donna (Allen) Ryniec. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and by Lynn Daczyk, with whom he remained friends.
He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1962 and Marquette University in 1970.
Daniel served in the US Army from 1963 to 1968, three years in Yokohama, Japan, with the 106th General Hospital. He worked for the US Army as a civilian for 25 years, retiring from the Army Corps of Engineers in 2002. While stationed in Japan, he and Lynn traveled to Guam, the Philippines, Bangkok, and Thailand. Another great trip was two months camping in Mexico in 1971.
He enjoyed boating, fly fishing, and restoring cars. He could figure out how to do anything he put his mind to. Coming from a musical family, he excelled in and played first violin in the high school orchestra, and later, taught himself to play guitar and banjo. He enjoyed playing guitar with his long-time friend and musician, Gary Chaney. Being half Norwegian and marrying into a Scandinavian family, he learned to love lutefisk. Among many other things, he did a great job teaching Zak to play baseball and made sure that Zak knew geography.
Celebration of Life for the family is being planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his memory page.
