Dale Reid, 87, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center in Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, June 10th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held Monday, June 11th, at 1:00 p.m., at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4107 - 21st Avenue, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL, with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post #246. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Honor Flights of the Quad Cities, American Legion Post 246 of Moline, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline, or the American Cancer Society. Dale Reid was born in Moline on September 18, 1924, to Glenn and Florence (Williams) Reid. On August 21, 1948, in Rock Island, IL, he married Mary Elizabeth Radcliffe, who preceded him in death March 9, 2001. Later, in Moline, he married Shirley Wallarab on April 3, 2003. He was employed by John Deere Plow-Planter for 34-1/2 years, retiring as a supervisor on September 1, 1981. He was a member of Moline Vikings, and American Legion Post #246. He attended an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in November of 2011. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, and playing golf, including his two holes-in-one at the Hawthorn Ridge and Emeis courses. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by children: Paul (Nancy) Lackey of Moline, Dennis Lackey of Moline, Dean (Shellie) Lackey of Alton, IL, Judy (Phil) Anders of Geneseo, IL, Jackie Reid of Moline, and Sue (Joe) Knapp of Silvis, IL; step-children: Kim (Jim) Richmiller, Terry (Abby) Wallarab, Bryon (Tiffany) Wallarab, and Kirk (Jesse) Wallarab; twelve grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn, and twin daughters, Alice and Kay.
