Dale E Sheldon

June 30, 1933 — September 15, 2018

Dale E. Sheldon, 85, of Moline, IL, formerly of Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018, at his home.  Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and private family services will be held. Dale was born in Burlington, IA, on June 9, 1933, the son of Russell D. and Charlotte (Meichsner) Sheldon.  On June 30, 1952, in Panama City, FL, he married Janet E. Gross.  He graduated high school, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as a carpenter and millwright for the Rock Island Arsenal. Dale would have all of you understand: “Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow.  I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn’s rain.  When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.  I am the soft star that shines at night.  Do not stand at my grave and cry.  I am not there, I did not die.” In addition to his wife, Janet, survivors include daughters, Dianna (Randy) Norin, and Linda (John) Jones, all of Moline, and Kristi (Dan) Carico of China, MI; a brother, David (Karen) Sheldon of Collierville, TN; grandchildren, Sara Clemsen, Jason Stenger, Melissa Stenger, Michael Stenger, Jamie Jones, Julie Jones, A. Albrecht, Adrian Veloz, Brea Morris, and Hillary Carico; 18 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ronald.
