Cheryl Larsen

April 17, 1956 — June 5, 2024

Cheryl S Larsen, a beacon of laughter and the unofficial queen of sci-fi marathons, took her final bow on June 5, 2024, in Rock Island, IL. Born in the bustling town of Muscatine, IA, on April 17, 1956, Cheryl's life was a tapestry of mystery games, crochet hooks, and a movie collection that would make Dracula himself envious.

Cheryl, who was known for her infectious giggle and ability to find the humor in the darkest of thrillers, graduated from Moline High School in '74, with a diploma in one hand and a crochet needle in the other. She was a master of the arts, crafting both laughter and afghans with equal skill.

Her three sons, Brian, Chris, and Neil Crouse, were the Luke Skywalkers to her Yoda, learning the ways of the forceful chuckle and the art of not taking life too seriously. Tarah Larsen, her daughter, inherited her mother's knack for solving mysteries, be they on a game board or in the tangled yarn of a new crochet project.

Cheryl's love for collecting was legendary. From the rarest of dolls and action figures to sci-fi memorabilia that could rival a museum, her home was a treasure trove of 'whodunnits' and 'what-ifs.' She could crochet an afghan in the time it took most people to untangle their earphones, a skill that always kept her loved ones in both stitches and stitchery.

While some find horror movies, well, horrifying, Cheryl found them hysterical. Her laughter could be heard echoing through the corridors of the cosmos, no doubt causing a few alien heads to turn. She was the loving, kind, and thoughtful soul who reminded us that even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, there's always time for a good joke.

Cheryl's legacy is not just in the memories she leaves behind but in the smiles she crafted with care, the mysteries she solved with glee, and the warm embrace of her crocheted creations. She was a woman who saw the world not as a place to fear but as a stage for comedy, with every day serving as an opportunity for a new punchline.

So let's not say goodbye to Cheryl S Larsen; let's say, "See you later, alligator," knowing full well she'd have a witty retort at the ready. After all, in the grand mystery of life, Cheryl taught us that the joy is in the journey, the laughter is in the details, and the best way to face the unknown is with a smile on your face, and a horror flick queued up for the evening.
