Charles E. Holton, 87, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, IL. Services will be Friday, March 28th, at 1:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a two-hour visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the Aledo V.F.W. Charles Edward Holton was born in Horse Cave, KY, on May 18, 1926, to Charles and Roxie (Locke) Holton. On August 17, 1947, in Aledo, IL, he married Bernadine Welch, who survives. He graduated from the Aledo Schools, and joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, serving during WWII in the Pacific. He was employed by John Deere Harvester Company, retiring in the mid-1970's. He was a lifetime member of the Aledo V.F.W., and loved fishing in Bagley, WI. He was known as #1 at Stenzel Auctions, since he always held the Number 1 bid ticket. In addition to his wife, Bernadine, survivors include, daughters: Marcia (Norman) Anderson of Hot Springs Village, AR, Janice (Bruce) Stickell of Milan, IL, Carol (Darrel) Stark of Moline, IL, and Kathy Hull of Moline; a son: Chuck (Nancy) Holton of Atlantic Beach, FL; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Virginia Reed, and a brother: Ronald Holton.
