Charles A. Peterson, 61, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Monday, January 11th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Tuesday, January 12th, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to the Black Hawk Summer Baseball League. Charles A. Peterson was born in Moline on January 4, 1949, to Carl 'Ed' and Shirley (Wells) Peterson, Jr. On May 24, 1975, in Moline, he married Roberta 'Bert' Thennis, who survives. He graduated with the Moline High School Class of 1967, and graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport IA. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972 during Viet Nam. He was employed as Vice President of the Trust Department at First Midwest Bank in Moline, retiring after 41 years, on July 4, 2008. He was a life-time member of Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. He loved sports, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He was Past-President of the Willard School Dads Club. He was one of the founding members of the Sandy Coufax Moline Summer Baseball League, a past-director of the Mickey Mantel Baseball League, and the Director of the Black Hawk Summer Baseball League. In addition to his wife, survivors include: his father: 'Ed' Peterson, Jr; a daughter: Sarah (David) Fulkerson of Moline; two sons: Craig (Karen) Peterson of Bowling Green, KY, and Scott Peterson of Moline; a sister: Jill (Steve) Grubaugh of Moline; a brother: Bruce Peterson of Marietta, OH; and two grandchildren: Hailey and Kendall Fulkerson, both of Moline. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley.
