Catherine M. DeWitte, affectionately known to many as Cathie, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2024, at 66 in Rock Island, Illinois. Born on August 17, 1957, Cathie's life journey began in Rock Island.

Cathie was a proud graduate of Moline High School, Class of 1975, where she formed lasting friendships and developed a foundation for her future endeavors. After graduation, she explored various career opportunities and lived in Tennessee and Florida, experiences that broadened her horizons and enriched her character. Ultimately, her heart led her back to the Quad Cities, where Cathie established herself as a dedicated phlebotomist at Metropolitan Labs. She continued her professional journey there until the transition to Lab Corp, after which she decided to embrace retirement.

In her personal life, Cathie was known for her unwavering support and love for Chicago sports teams. She was a fervent fan with a special place in her heart for the Chicago Cubs. Watching her beloved team play was more than a pastime; it was a passion that brought her immense joy.

Cathie leaves behind her devoted brother, Marty DeWitte, her respected sister-in-law, Chris DeWitte, her cherished nephew, Michael DeWitte, and his wife, Stephanie, and their two children, Aubree and Ryder.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank DeWitte, her mother, Mary Jo DeWitte Gustafson, and her stepfather, Gilbert Gustafson. Her parents instilled in Cathie the values of kindness and perseverance.

She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
