Davenport

Catherine "Cathy" LaCaille, born on November 22, 1951, in Rock Island, Illinois, passed peacefully in her sleep on March 10, 2025, at Generations of Rock Island, Illinois. She lived a life dedicated to family, work, and community, leaving behind cherished memories and an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Cathy laid a strong foundation for her career through education, attending Alleman High School in Rock Island and graduating from Mt. St. Clare Academy in Clinton, Iowa. Her professional journey included significant roles at Farm Bureau Insurance Co., C.A.S.I. Commission on Aging for Senior Iowans, Davenport Medical Center, and culminating in her retirement from Johnson Oil Co. Throughout her career, she exemplified commitment and dedication, earning the prestigious "Employee of the Year" award from Davenport Medical Center on three separate occasions—a testament to her unwavering work ethic and the respect she garnered from her colleagues.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cathy was known for her enormous heart and sense of humor. She had an exceptional ability to connect with others, often making her loved ones laugh. Cathy cherished spending time with her family, and her culinary skills were legendary among those who knew her, from making the best canned hot sauce straight from her garden to expertly cooking salmon and many other delicious dishes.

Cathy's interests included fishing, taking long walks by the river, and nurturing her adopted pets, all of which brought her joy and fulfillment. She approached life with an open spirit and was unafraid to express her opinions with clarity and confidence.

She is survived by her loving family, including her brother Guy (Jane) Turnbull of Algonquin, Illinois; her sister Mary (Dale) Mott of Sherrard, Illinois; her sons Paul Davis of Moline, Illinois, and Glen (Tiffany) Davis of Milan, Illinois; as well as her grandchildren Thomas (Erin) Davis of Minnesota, Christina Davis of Davenport, Iowa, Daniel Davis of Cato, New York, Dylan Davis of Moline, Illinois, and four great-grandchildren.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Eleanore Turnbull, and her brother, John Turnbull. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and commitment—a shining example for all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she enriched.

Per Cathy's wishes, cremation and a private family burial near her parents and grandparents will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Maytown, Illinois.
