Carolyn D. "Kerry" Schultz

July 8, 1944 — November 15, 2024

Carolyn D. "Kerry" Schultz, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, in Moline, IL, at the age of 80. Born on July 8, 1944, in Boone, Iowa, to the late Arthur and Elizabeth Kelly, Kerry grew up in a warm household alongside her sister, Barbara, who predeceased her. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many who will remember her loving and optimistic spirit.

After graduating from high school and obtaining professional certifications, she began a long and distinguished career with the City of Rock Island's Inspection Department. For 32 years, she dedicated her time and talents to her community, embracing both the challenges and the triumphs that came with her role.

Kerry is survived by a loving family: her children, Peggy Carpenter, John Reeves, and Robert Schultz; her daughter-in-law, Jody Schultz, and Peggy's significant other, John Wassenhove; her grandsons, Andrew Carpenter, Mitchell Schultz, Alex Reeves, Zack Schultz, and Jack Reeves; and her granddaughters, Ashley Lawhorn, Elizabeth Schultz. Kerry's legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Cole Carpenter, Ryleigh Lawhorn, Grayson Lawhorn, Piper Lawhorn, Benjamin Schultz, and Ellie Carpenter, as well as her granddaughters-in-law, Holly Wood-Carpenter and Katelyn Dempkoski.

Kerry's zest for life was visible through her many interests. A devoted cat lover, she found joy in the companionship of her cat, Charlotte.

Kerry's garden was her place to enjoy time outdoors. Kerry's love for river living was evident to all who visited her as she embraced the tranquility and community it provided.

An avid shopper, Kerry had an eye for finding treasures, which she often shared with her loved ones. Playing cards with friends was more than a pastime; it was a ritual filled with laughter and companionship. She also possessed a creative flair, expressed through her crocheting projects.

Kerry cultivated lifelong bonds that were reinforced through laughter and support. Her friends were an extension of her family, and she valued each relationship deeply.

As we say goodbye, we also say thank you—to a woman who was a true force of positivity in this world. Kerry's zest for life and deep-seated love for her family will be cherished and emulated by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her light, though no longer present in this world, continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a visitation from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. before the service. Private family burial at Riverside Cemetery in Moline.
