Carol S. Brundage, 90, of Rock Island, IL, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Heartland Health Care Center in Moline, IL. Carol S. Stone was born in Moline on May 23, 1918, to James and Mary (McCullough) Stone. She attended schools in Mineral, and graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Business Education. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant to Miss Margarite N. Brooks, the Administrator of the former Moline Public Hospital, for 25 years. Previously, she taught Business Education at Mineral High School. Carol was a member of First Congregational Church in Moline, a former member of the 15th Avenue Christian Church in Rock Island; the Rock Island/Moline Chapter of the American Association of University Women; the Friendship Circle of Kings Daughters; the Professional Secretaries International Association; The Rock Island County Historical Society; the Quad City Symphony Volunteers; the Citizens to Preserve Black Hawk Park Foundation; the Putnam Museum; the YWCA of the Quad Cities; the Friends of Moline Public Library; the Mary Little Deere-Fort Armstrong Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and was a Life Member of the Trinity Medical Center Auxiliary. Services will be held Monday, August 25th, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A committal service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Sheffield Cemetery in Sheffield, IL. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters: Lois Tomlinson and Alta Stone.
