Carol Annette Baxa

Carol Annette Baxa, 73, of Aledo, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Mercer Manor, Aledo, IL.

Services will be Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island, with a two-hour visitation prior to the service from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established for the grandchildren.

Carol was born in Macomb, IL, on January 7, 1949, to Kenneth and Artie (Herron) Phelps. She married George Baxa on July 27, 1968, in Colchester, IL.

Carol graduated from Colchester High School, class of "1967." She attended Western Illinois University and received her BA in History Secondary Education in 1971. She worked for the Davenport School District.

She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, where she volunteered in the nursery and preschool. Carol loved her children and grandchildren. She loved reading, sewing, and art.

In addition to her husband George, survivors include daughters Angela K.(Jim) Sheese of Moline, IL, and Krista A. Baxa of Aledo, IL; sons George (Belinda) Baxa III of Morris, IL, Thomas (Erin) Baxa of Bettendorf, IA, and Michael C. (Sybil) Baxa of Flossmoor, IL; grandchildren, Torey, Kaitlynn, and Rebekah Baxa, James and Karol Sheese, Noah, Liam, Zane, and Quin Baxa, Josephine and Alexandria Baxa, and step-grandchildren Abby and Molly Kennis.
