Carmen R. Rumler, 79, of Moline, IL. passed away peacefully on February 5, 2020, at home.
Services and a celebration of Carmen’s life will be held at a later date.
Carmen was born in Moline, IL, on January 13, 1942, to Joseph and Valetta (Amos) Lopez. On February 28, 1959, she married Robert Rumler in Rock Island, IL, who preceded her in death on October 18, 2009.
Carmen began her career at Kresge’s in Moline and retired from Kmart after 30 years of service. She then began working for another 15 years at Hy-Vee in Moline retiring again in 2016.
Carmen loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and hunting with her family and husband. She was especially gifted at craftwork and spent several years creating and selling crafts with her husband Bob after her first retirement. Carmen was an animal lover at heart, taking in many pets throughout the years, and was especially fond of her cats. Above all she enjoyed seeing and hearing from and about her grandchildren and their children.
Survivors include her sons Bob Jr. (Lynn) Rumler, Williamston, SC and Darren (Patty) Moline, IL: daughter Julie Rumler (Larry DeSmet) Moline, IL: grandchildren Amy Vittitow, Jenny Thorndyke, Matt Rumler, Natalie Rumler, Wayne DeSmet, Caley Rumler; great-grandchildren Kasey, Julian, Amelia, Ethan, Hailey, Alexis, Brinlee, Chyler, Calvaunah, Isaac, Aaron; great-great-grandaughter Alivia; sisters Gloria Mahieu, Fran Chambers, Armida Lopez, Jozette, Nelms, and Margo Cauldren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Joseph, Richard, Gabriel, Benedict, and Gregory; and sisters Mary Jo, and Madonna.
