Funeral services for Carla J. Reynolds Telleen, 82, of Rock Island, IL, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 26th, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Island. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island. Visitation will be Thursday, February 25th, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. The family suggests memorials may be given to Augustana College (Frank and Carla Reynolds Telleen Scholarship), to St. John's Lutheran Church, or to a favorite charity of the donor. Carla Reynolds Telleen was born November 22, 1927, in Moline, a daughter of Wesley and Irma Cox Reynolds. She was graduated from Moline High School and received a bachelor of arts degree from Augustana College in 1950. The following year she taught at Roosevelt Elementary School in Moline, and then started a 17-year career as a reporter and columnist with the Moline Dispatch. Her assignments included editing the fashion sections and covering fashion shows in New York City. On October 1, 1961, she married Frank Telleen in Ascension Chapel on the Augustana campus. In 1975, she was among the first to undergo open heart surgery in the Quad-Cities. After recovery, she worked several years as a medical secretary for a group of Moline physicians. She was active in the Augustana Alumni Association, serving the past two years as class representative. She also was a member and former secretary of the Augustana Endowment Society, and a member of the Augustana Historical Society. For many years she served as secretary and historian of the Moline High School Class of 1946, and was active in planning their 5-year reunions. She was a member of St. John's Church, King's Daughters, and Chapter BK, P.E.O., and was a longtime patron of the Quad-City Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her husband, survivors are: a step-daughter, Nancy (John) Califf of Rock Island; a step-son, William (Pamela) Telleen of Minneapolis, MN; five step-grandchildren: William (Jenny) Califf, Steven Califf, Matthew (Chanda) Telleen, Erik Telleen, and Beth (Ben) Allinder; seven step-great-grandchildren, and several cousins.
