Carl R. Ekblad

Carl “Dick” Ekblad, 69, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, November 28, 2015, at UnityPoint-Trinity West in Rock Island, IL. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, on Friday, December 11th, at 1:00 p.m., with a two-hour visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for an education fund for Dick’s grandchildren. Carl R. Ekblad was born September 1, 1946, in Chicago, IL, to Carl and Leona Ekblad. On July 3, 1971, in Moline, he married Nancy Dickinson, who preceded him in death in 2014. He was a District Sales Manager in Outdoor Equipment at Briggs & Stratton Engines, in Wauwatosa, WI. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Moline, and was Past Commodore of the LOYA Yachting Association, Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. He enjoyed boating, cars, and photography. Survivors include a daughter Hilary (Ryan) Edwards of Sedalia, MO; a son Chad (Elaine) Small of Dallas, TX; a sister Joyce Benner of West Jefferson, NC; and four grandchildren, Alexandria, Grant, Gage, and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, and his parents.
