Betty Lavern Hobbs

September 30, 1925 — July 22, 2018

Betty L. Hobbs, 92, of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. A Celebration of Life and Home Going will be Friday, July 27 th , from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline.  Services will be Saturday, July 28 th , at 12:00 noon, at the funeral home, with burial in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates in Moline. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island, IL. Betty (Randall) Hobbs was born in LaHarpe, IL, on September 30, 1925, daughter of Fred and Emma (Flynn) Randall.  On December 8, 1943, in Moline, she married Wallace L. Hobbs, who preceded her in death September 15, 2001. The last ten years of employment for Betty was at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island.  Previously she had worked for the Resale Consignment Shop, Candles & Stuff, Coffee Merchant, and the former McCabes Department Store.  She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, and enjoyed working and going shopping.  Betty especially loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughters, Myrna Lynne Harris of LaCenter, KY, Marsha (Robert) Hartley of Moline, and Margo Laine (Jim Schenk) Hobbs of Moline; sisters, Eva Pohl of Moline, Barbra Fisher of Washington, IL, and Sharon Gaffney of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Dean Randall, and a son-in-law, Robert Harris.
