Betty J Mcsparin

Betty J. McSparin, 94, of Moline, IL, formerly of Rock Island, IL, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. Services will be Thursday, July 9th, at 12:00 noon, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a one-hour visitation from 11:00 am until time of the service. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Two Rivers Methodist Church, Rock Island, IL. Betty was born in Moline on May 21, 1921, to Forrest and Josephine (Ragan) Beck. On December 19, 1942, in Moline, she married Philip H. Warrick, who preceded her in death September 20, 1966. She then married Oral “Chick” McSparin in Rock Island, on November 22, 1969. He died July 13, 1994. Betty graduated in the Moline High School Class of 1939. She became a clerk-typist at Royal Neighbors of America in Rock Island, and retired in May of 1986. She was a member of former Memorial Heights United Methodist Church in Rock Island, and its Methodist Women’s Group. She was an avid newspaper-reader, and loved flowers and bird-watching. Survivors include: daughters Jan (Deneen) French of Milan, IL, and Connie Smith of Huntington Beach, CA; son P. Allan (Mary) Warrick of Carrollton, TX; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Reva DeBock.
