Betty J Hillbloom

Betty J. Hillbloom, 71, of Moline, IL, died Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Hope Creek Continuing Care Center in East Moline, IL. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.  Visitation will be Thursday, April 18 th , from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline.  A memorial service will be on Friday, April 19 th , at 2:30 p.m., at the funeral home, with inurnment in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic Pancreatic Cancer Research. Betty was born in Springfield, IL, on March 5, 1948, daughter of Horace and Elizabeth (Takacs) Barrington.  On October 6, 1973, in Springfield, she married James S. Hillbloom. She was educated at Little Flower Grade School, Sacred Heart Academy High School, Western Illinois University, and the University of Iowa.  She excelled in all endeavors in the work force.  She taught school for eight years, and then was very successful as a mortgage banker, manager, and bank president. She served as the president of the local chapter for Cerebral Palsy for eight years, and was a member of Oakwood Country Club for thirty-eight years.  She was a social butterfly who loved family, dining out, and vacationing in sunny Fort Myers, FL.  She was a great cook who loved to entertain and celebrate with family and friends.  Betty was enthusiastic, spontaneous, and had an incredible zest for life.  She will be gravely missed by all the people who had the pleasure of knowing her.  In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, Michael (Linda) Hillbloom of Coal Valley, IL, and Daniel Hillbloom of Moline; her grandchildren, Sarah, Dylan, Kaylee, Lyric, and Carson; and her ex-daughter-in-law, Chrissy Hillbloom.
