Bettie Lou Johanson

Bettie Lou Johanson, age 78, of Oquawka, IL, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the home of her son in Moline, IL. Bettie Lou Ortery was born November 16, 1929, to George and Gladys (Ishmall) Ortery in Keithsburg, IL. She married Robert L. Johanson on October 21, 1961, in Keithsburg. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2000. She was employed at Howard Johnsons in Moline for 15 years, retiring in 1986. Bettie was an avid WWE fan, and loved watching with her grandson, Nick, and she was an all-time Elvis fan, and collector of all Elvis items. She loved her dogs, Buddy and Molly, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 19th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. There will be a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 21st, at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice. Survivors include: two daughters: Judy (Bob) Weber of Moline, and Erma Doss of Keithsburg, IL; three sons: Mike (Shelly) Abbott of Oquawka, Kevin (Janet) Abbott of East Moline, IL, and Craig (Jill) Johanson of Moline, IL.; three sisters: Bertha Finch of Keithsburg, Hazel Sheckels of Seaton, IL., and Edith Turnquist of Yucca Valley, CA; fourteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and one great-grandchild.
