Bernice M Kay

Bernice Kay, age 80, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, September 13, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 16th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Wednesday, September 17th, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Bernice M. Wiklund was born January 18, 1928, in Moline, to Bartel and Florence (Lindstedt) Wiklund. She married John W. Kay on May 7, 1947, in Moline, and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was employed in the cafeteria at Moline High School for 25 years, retiring in 1995. Bernice was an avid Cubs fan and bingo fan, but above all, her biggest love in life was her children and family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #246 in Moline. Survivors include: her daughters: Connie (Mike) Carroll of Albany, GA, Jackie Kay of Moline, and Kathy (Mark) Polito of Moline; her sons: James Kay of Moline, and John (Kris) Kay of Davenport, IA; her sisters: Lucille Matters, and Doris Oakberg, both of Moline; a sister-in-law: Jean Paulson of Moline; eleven grandchildren: Alexis, Angela, Johnna, Kaylyn, Missie, Andy, Chase, Dustyn, John, Mickey, and Tony; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend: Jonnnie Langley of Moline. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers: John and Richard Wiklund.
