Bernard C Pilcher

Bernard C. Pilcher, age 67, of Moline, IL. died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, IA. Bernard C. Pilcher was born May 2, 1940, to Gail and Hallice (Bogaert) Pilcher in Richland, MO. He graduated from United Township High School in East Moline, IL, and then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. He worked for D & J Industrial Laundry from 1968 until 1986. He then was employed for 17 years, by Jacobs Wood & Forestry in Moline, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the American Legion Post #227, the U.S. Bowling Congress, and the Handymans Club of America. Bernard was a mentor for many first-job kids at D&J Laundry, helping them learn how to work, and giving them good reason to go back to school. The body will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30th at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 30th, from 4:00 p.m. until time of the service. Inurnment will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to Animal Aid Humane Society in Moline, IL. Survivors include: two sisters: Donna (Bob) Mattan of Dubuque, IA., and Sharon (Raymond) Stewart of Athens, GA.; his god-daughter: Michelle Fitzgibbons; his good friends: Vicki Hollander of Moline, and Perry Jacobs of East Moline; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Agnes Buysse.
