Belinda Bee Johnson, 65, of Orion, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at UnityPoint Trinity Health Center in Rock Island, following a long struggle with myotonic muscular dystrophy, affecting much of her adult life. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 18th, at First Congregational Church in Moline, IL, with a two-hour visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Coal Valley, IL. Memorials may be made to the Black Hawk Area Special Education Center, or to the First Congregational Church in Moline. Belinda Bee Biggins was born in Belvedere, IL on March 6, 1951, to Blanchford and Louise Biggins of Caledonia, IL. Belinda was very active though out her school years, finding great pleasure in group projects such as marching band, choirs, pep clubs, musicals, plays, and various honor student events, and beauty pageants. The same joy she derived from school teamwork also carried over to her church life in choirs and summer church camps. Belinda would meet her future husband, Dennis Johnson from Moline, when they were brought together, by chance, at Augustana College in 1969 as freshman class homecoming royalty. Belinda was a member of the Phi Rho Sorority, and graduated in 1973, with majors in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development. She taught school in Bishop Hill, IL, where she and Dennis would live after marrying in Belvedere, on June 22, 1974. Later, Belinda and Dennis would both go to work for John Deere Company, and settle in Orion, IL, where they would remain permanently. Belinda retired from Sentry Insurance as a senior claims adjuster for agricultural property, in August of 2008, as the symptoms of her neuromuscular disease worsened. Belinda and Dennis attended First Congregational Church in Moline, where she was a member of the Bell Choir for over twenty years. Her favorite pastimes included needlework, fishing, sightseeing, and golf. But her true joy was always rooted in family, friends and laughter, which were her true sources of happiness. In addition to her husband, Dennis, survivors include three nieces, Brandi Biggins, Bridget Paul, and Becky Counsel; and an infinite number of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a son, Benjamin.
