Barry L. Brown, 56, of Moline, IL, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 2nd, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 3rd, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, IL. Barry was born March 30, 1958, in Moline, the son of Leonard and Betty Greenlee Brown. He was employed at Sexton Ford in Moline, in the body shop, for eighteen years. He then operated his own body shop business until 2010. He was in charge of the maintenance and groun ds for the family business, Len Brown’s North Shore Inn and Marina on the Rock River. He was a 1976 graduate of Moline High School. He enjoyed working on and collecting cars. He also collected guns and antiques, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He especially enjoyed spending time on the Rock River. He was an avid story teller, and he loved his chocolate lab, Sugar. Survivors include sisters, Kathie Womack and Lenetta (Scott) Hamor, all of Moline; nieces Amanda (Lon) Mullen, Emily Martin, Melissa Womack, and Samantha Hamor; nephews Jeremy (Lindsey) Womack, Justin Womack, and Joshua (Leanne Robb) Womack; and great-nieces and –nephews Jaiden, Kaiden, Jaxon, Benton, Jillian, Macy, Deven, Jocelyn, Madelynn, and Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Bonnie Martin, and a nephew Jared Womack.
