Barbara Mae Hanson

Barbara M. Hanson, 74, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at UnityPoint Health (Trinity) in Rock Island, IL. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A private service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coal Valley, IL. Inurnment will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family. Barbara Mae Hoskins was born in Milan, MO, on April 3, 1939, to Basil Hoskins and Ardis (Davis) Lybert. On August 21, 1954, in Ottawa, IL, she married Marvin Hanson, who survives. She attended schools in Kirksville, MO, and Rock Island, IL. She was a cake decorator at HyVee, and worked for Seton Catholic School in Moline. She retired in 2004. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Coal Valley, IL, and enjoyed crafts, cake decorating, gardening, scenic drives, and loved her family, especially her grandkids. In addition to her husband Marvin, survivors include, daughters: Sherry Duburg of Moline and Kathy Peterson of Rock Island; son: Tim (Betsy) Hanson of Milan, IL; grandchildren: Josh Duburg, Kali Peterson, Colin Hanson, Tiffaney Hoyt, and Austin (Graciy) Hoyt; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jack Hoskins, and two sisters, Betty Tomlinson and Judy Ward. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Andrea, Emily, & Tami of Heartland Hospice and Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion, IL.
