Alice Carol Flick

Alice C. Flick, 92, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity in Rock Island, IL. Services will be Monday, July 22nd, at 11:00 a.m., with a two-hour visitation prior to the service, at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Park Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Alice Carol Peterson was born in New Windsor, IL, on April 30, 1921, to Frank W. and Hilma (Johnson) Peterson. In Moline, on November 22, 1942, she married William "Bill" Flick, Sr, who preceded her in death in 1996. In 1941, during WWII, Alice and two girlfriends, traveled to San Diego, CA, to work for Consolidated Aircraft. They were "Rosie the Riveters", working on the B24 Liberator, building the instrument panels. Later, she worked at Eagle Signal Company in Moline. Shortly after they were married, she and Bill started Flick's Plumbing and Electrical Company at Airport Corners in Moline. She was the CFO of Flick's from 1948 until 1972. Alice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, Eastern Star, Clara Lodge, Trinity Hospital Auxiliary, Rock Island County Historical Society, and a former member of Kings Daughters Florence Banning Circle. While Alice lived in Litchfield Park, AZ, for three years, she volunteered every day in the nurse's office at Western Sky Middle School. She loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include, daughter Nancy (Jack) Dean of Litchfield Park, AZ; sons William "Karl" (Sharon) Flick of Apple Valley, MN, and James Flick of Coal "Napa" Valley, IL; brother Robert Peterson of New Windsor, IL; sister-in-law Trudy Groth of South Laguna, CA; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 54 years, she was preceded in death by a brother, four sisters, and a granddaughter, Amy Dean.
