Alexander M. Hallene, 22, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, October 2, 2008, in Champaign, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, October 5th, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held on Monday, October 6th, at 11:00 a.m., at First Congregational Church, 2201 7th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be in Moline's Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Illinois Foundation with a scholarship in Alex's name to a Moline student, to Young Life of the Quad-Cities, or to First Congregational Church. Alexander Montgomery Hallene was born November 28, 1985, in Dallas, TX, to Al and Mindy Hallene. He attended Logan Elementary, Wilson Middle School, and graduated from Moline Senior High School in 2004. Alex was a varsity tennis player all four years of high school, and was co-captain of the team during his senior year. Alex was a senior at the University of Illinois, majoring in Finance in the ACT program. He was looking forward to a career in corporate finance, working with his uncle in Chicago. Alex loved life and sports of all kinds, including following his beloved Cubs, Bears, and Illini. He particularly loved fishing at his family's summer homes in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with his two brothers, his many cousins, his friends, parents, and grandparents. Alex is survived by his parents; his brothers: Bryan and Jimmy, both of Moline; his paternal grandmother, Phyllis W. Hallene of Moline; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and his lifelong best friend, Lars Moen. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Barbara Grafton, his paternal grandfather, Al Hallene, Sr, and his uncle, Josh Grafton.
