Alberta Louise 'Billie' Seesland, 92, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. She is survived by her husband, William, of 74 years, their three daughters: Bonnie Tyler, Billie Brewer, and Eileen Hoegner, and a granddaughter, Darcy Tyler. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 15th, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. A celebration of her life will be Wednesday, January 16th, at 11:00 a.m., at First Congregational Church in Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, in Rock Island, IL. Billie was born March 14th in Chicago, to John and Martha Norton. Billie met Bill at Austin High School in Chicago. She attended Rockford College and Northwestern University. She enjoyed school, and might have pursued a career in the medical field, or become a biology teacher. However, she became ill and had to leave college. Her father enrolled her in the Moser Business College (downtown Chicago) to develop secretarial skills. January 15, 1939, Bill and Billie married. From 1942 to 1945, she waited with their first child for Bill to return from overseas duty during WWII. Wanting to raise a family outside of Chicago, they moved to Moline in 1946. In addition to raising a family, Billie worked at various jobs. Her favorite place was Lutheran Hospital in the pathology, x-ray, and administration departments. She was involved in PTAs at Garfield, John Deere, and Moline High School. She taught Sunday school and enjoyed the social organizations at First Congregational Church. Later, she joined PEO and King's Daughters. Her family is thankful for her love, guidance, and care. Many people and organizations benefitted from her involvement, devotion, and work ethic. Her legacy and influence on her children have always been powerful. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to an organization close to your heart. Some organizations that Billie would appreciate, would be First Congregational Church, Living Lands and Waters, Shriner's Hospital, or University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
