Darrel Wayne Stark

Darrel Wayne Stark, 69, of Moline, IL, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018, at his home. In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned. Interment will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be sent to the family at 4019 – 14th Street, Moline, IL 61265, who will donate the funds to “Brodie’s Buddies” to help the Special Needs Program in the Moline School District. Darrel was born in Wynne, AR, on October 20, 1948, to Ottie Stark and Alda Evelyn Clampit. He graduated from Moline High School in 1966 and joined the U.S. Army that same year. He served honorably for three years as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. For several years he worked for McLaughlin Body Company and International Harvester Company. He graduated from Hamilton Technical College in 1986 with a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. Before retiring in 2010, he was employed for twenty-five years by Cobham Life Support in Davenport, IA. Darrel married the love of his life, Carol Jean Holton, on July 21, 1979. He was an avid fisherman who spent many summers with his wife and children in Bagley, WI, catching bluegill and crappie. He was a Master Gardener whose tomatoes were well known in the area. He loved camping and spending many winters in Hattiesburg, MS. Darrel recently achieved his bucket list by traveling to Alaska, Australia, and New Zealand. One of his many adventures included an overnight ride with his son aboard the USS Bremerton (SSN 698) out of Pearl Harbor, HI. In addition to Carol, his wife of thirty-eight years, survivors include four children, Michell (Jeff) Farmer of Coal Valley, IL, Matt (Staci) Circello of Colona, IL, Darcey (Todd) Reczkiewicz of Oak Forest, IL, and Shannon (Jacob) Carroll of Rock Island, IL; eight grandchildren, Arianna (Matt) Clevenger, Charlie, Baylie, and Brodie Farmer, Morgan and Kelsey Reczkiewicz, and Alexis and Madison Carroll; one great-grandchild, Emmalyn Day-Kenney; three sisters, Ann (Darrell) Pettis of Wisconsin, Pat (Ralph) Jefford of Arkansas, and Phillis (Bill) Edwards of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jenell Sue Stark, his parents, his sisters, Rowena Catlett and Margaret Parish, and his brothers, Doyle and Carlos Stark. Darrel will be missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
